Photo of the Month: December 2009 Results

It gives us great pleasure to announce the winners of the Photo of the Month December contest held from January 1-15. The decision – as always – was a close one with the Flock weighing in as well as the choice of the editors and our celebrity judge Arko Datta.

A very split vote between the three meant that the Flock’s vote once again swayed the result. There were many close finishers who could have made the top 10, but the Flock thought otherwise. We’ll just say keep shooting! And congratulations to the winners.

About the Judge: A photojournalist for Reuters, Arko Datta urges others only to take up photojournalism if they’re madly in love with it. He has won the prestigious World Press Photo Award for his stunning capture of an Indian woman mourning a relative killed in the Asian tsunami. Read Arko Datta's interview WINNER!

An everyday scene made interesting by the photographer’s perspective. The use of space and colour, along with a strong human element, makes this image an interesting composition and a compelling viewing.
