Shooter - 'Election Fever'. The result. PDF Print E-mail

How quickly things change in our country. We got the old new government. We got people conveniently voting from behind their television sets. We got filmi drama at the highest political level. And we got some really cool shots of the great Indian democratic experience.

We know it was a tough one. To actually get you to go out and shoot something in real time. Not sit on your laurels of the past. Spend some time and energy. Maybe even take a few risks ;-). To those who did, and made this once-in-5-years opportunity a hit, a pat on the back and a beer toast! To the others, well…

Fawzan HussainOur thanks to the judge - celebrated photojournalist Fawzan Husain who went through the rigours of choosing a new winner. Specializing in editorial photography and widely exhibited, he has shot in all sorts of situations and places, in India and elsewhere, during a sparkling 18-year career.

Shooter will be back. With yet another uncommon photochallenge.

A man made beggar and the God made beggar! | Udupi
Astro Mohan
Its a very timely shot where the photographer has been able to shoot people from two different walks of life doing the same thing in a bus. Very rarely does one come across this kind of a situation. A clear winner.

THE PRIZE. Astro wins the Epson Stylus Photo TX700W.

I selected this image because of it's serenity. It is one of those subtle images. It talks about Elections without actually showing Elections in the image.

Female voter of rural india | Dhar

Chetan Soni, Dhar, Madhya Pradesh.
Again this is also an indirect image and one of the subtle ones. This one too talks about Elections without actually showing Elections. The faces of all the women in the image are covered behind a veil and that gives it an eerie feeling. One can tell it is an image about Elections from just looking at the way the women are holding the placards.

It is a funny photo... It is of course more relevant now after the Congress has won this year’s election. This fact also adds to the humour of the image. It does look obviously staged and contrived and shows that even poor animals are dragged into it!
These deserving competitors earn the Fotoflock goodie bag!
