| | While we pondered over the dwindling downpour this monsoon, it was raining entries from the very day that Monsoon Madness was announced. And so we pondered some more when it came to shortlisting these brilliant rain-drenched pictures which flooded us! And then, the rain went away. So we extended the contest. And another downpour! As we emerge drenched from the massive number of entries, our judge had a tough time choosing the winners. But he did. And congratulations to all those who won. For the rest, there’s always next time!
About the Judge: Photojournalist for Reuters, Arko Datta, believes photojournalism is only made for those who are madly in love with it. Avijit Roy, Kolkata - Monsoon Day 1. With many deserving pictures, it was a difficult choice to pick one single winning winner. However for me this picture comes closest to the theme “Monsoon madness”. The picture shot from a child’s point of view of monsoon, bring a smile on our face. The emotion conveyed in the picture and the way it has been shot makes it a very striking and eye catching picture THE PRIZE: Avijit Roy wins the Epson PictureMate PM215. | Supriyo Ranjan Sarkar, Kolkata - Rain Drenched Rider. Dramatic. Very interestingly shot with a strong photographer’s point of view.
| | | | | | Rajat Kumar Das, Chennai – Rainshelter. One of the most unusual and interesting picture of the whole lot. Definitely was a strong contender for the winning picture. | | | | | Sanjay Hadkar, Mumbai – Human chain. Monsoon is not without its troubled waters and this picture aptly shows us its other side. | | These deserving competitors earn the Fotoflock goodie bag! | |
